Cairns Foreshore Redevelopment, QLD

The recent redevelopment of the Cairns foreshore has transformed the waterfront into a major tourist precinct that highlights the cultural and historic significance of the area. The foreshore links Cairns CBD to the aterfront, marina and the Cairns Cruise Terminal. The marina is the aunching point for all the tourist boats to and from the Great Barrier Reef nd also supports other tourist facilities and upmarket hotels.

Project Design Brief

  • To provide a discreet access cover, preserving the aesthetic continuity of the pavement
  • To provide security for the cable enclosures to prevent random public access

ACO's Solution

  • ACO provided a discreet 2-part lockable steel infill cover and frame system

Benefits

  • Each recessed cover comprises a deep pan for bedding pavers
  • The design of the cover pan accommodates the full depth of the paver, minimising the amount of cutting required
  • System rated to Class B, AS 3996 for occasional vehicular traffic
  • Four (4) high tensile M16 locking bolts per cover to safely secure the cable enclosure
