North Terrace, Adelaide, SA

North Terrace is a major cultural and tourist attraction with visitors taking full day trips to explore the area. The precinct incorporates Government House, State Library, Art Gallery South Australia Museum and the Institute Building. Recently, the pavement was upgraded between the State Library Building and the Institute Building.

Project Design Brief

Granite pavers 40mm deep were used in the design and the existing underground services required new cable enclosures. Designers wanted to ensure the continuity of the pavement design and required a visually discreet and secure access cover and frame system.

ACO's Solution

  • Pavermate single-part steel recessed access cover and frame
  • ACO Technical Services Department provided the structural designer and installer with a detailed rebate and beam drawing of the access cover

Benefits

  • Discreet 2mm galvanised steel frame maintains the continuity of pavement design
  • Pavermate covers are deep to accommodate 40mm thick pavers
  • Four high tensile steel locking bolts per cover ensure the contents of the enclosure are secure
