Scarborough Beach, Perth, WA

Scarborough Beach is one of Perth’s most popular beaches and was recently redeveloped at a cost of $100 million to become a premier tourist destination to attract local and international visitors and create economic growth.

The 1.6km foreshore was previously dominated by car parks and has been transformed with two pedestrian friendly promenades, a transit hub, beach pool, world-class skate park, basketball courts, children’s playground and Sunset Hill providing spectacular views over the beach. The beachfront provides a range of social and recreational activities throughout the day and night with restaurants, cafés, shops and entertainment.

Project Design Brief

Additional lighting, communications and CCTV cameras needed for the redevelopment required new cable enclosures. Designers wanted the access covers to blend in with the surrounding pavement and be load rated for vehicles.

ACO's Solution

Benefits

  • The 40mm high stainless steel decorative edge allows the cover to be filled with the adjacent paving material, providing a uniform aesthetic finish
