Removable structural beams

ACO’s structural beam selections are based on calculations carried out by an independent engineering consultant. The following criteria apply:

1. Spans are factored using limit state design in accordance with AS 4100.
2. The beams are assumed to have some lateral restraint and have adequate support at each end whilst being secured in position – refer to ACO’s recommended installation guidelines.
3. Design live loads are based on the table: nominal wheel loadings in AS 3996 Table 3.1 Load Classifications of Covers and Grates.  Average dead weights of covers have also been included in the calculations.
4. A load configuration of single or double wheel loads is adopted depending on the worst case scenario (highest bending moment).
