Technical Support

Support services for ACO’s Commercial Stormwater Management drainage products

ACO has invested heavily to technically support its stormwater management drainage products. Staffed by qualified engineers and equipped with purpose-written computer software, a design service is offered without obligation service or fee and is presented professionally.

ACO’s Technical Services department can offer advice to ensure the correct product is chosen for the application.

Services offered include:

Technical Support

1. Trench hydraulic service

Project specific flow calculations to ensure correct sizing of trenches

ACO can recommend the optimum size channel based on the volume of liquid to be drained whilst taking into account other project specific factors such as rainfall intensity, catchment areas and plumbing restrictions. ACO uses its bespoke hydraulic ‘Hydro’ program to assist with calculations. This is a free service and results are provided either electronically (PDF) and/or in printout format.

To request this service, fill in all sections of the Drainage Run Online Request or contact ACO.

2. Grate Hydraulic service

Project specific grate intake calculations to provide grate catchment data

ACO has independently measured, by experimentation, the hydraulic intake capacities of all ACO grates. The Grating Intake Calculator (GIC) provides information on the intake efficiency of the chosen grate. If the required liquid intake is greater than the grate’s performance, the extent of bypass (or failure) will be calculated. This is a free service and results are provided either electronically (PDF) and/or in printout format.

To request this service, fill in all sections of the Drainage Run Online Request or contact ACO.

3. Ponding analysis

Risk analysis of flood situations, including estimated flood size and duration

Temporary ponding is a short lived flood situation, which, in some circumstances, can be tolerated allowing an intentionally undersized trench drain system. It allows a more economical system to be used that will work effectively under most weather conditions, but will be slightly under designed for heavy storms. Ponding analysis should only be considered where buildings and property are not in close proximity to the drainage system to minimise risk of damage. It is an ideal option for the outer areas of large parking lots, distribution yards, etc., (Risk Analysis).

To request this service, fill in all sections of the Drainage Run Online Request or contact ACO.

4. Run layout and scheduling

Plan and profile layouts complete with bill of materials

ACO can provide a cost-effective surface drainage solution to satisfy a project’s design requirements. Trench drain layouts will be designed to take full advantage of existing and proposed site grades, utilising existing services where possible.

To request a drainage layout or scheduling this service, contact ACO.

5. Underground water storage systems for detention, retention and infiltration

To support the specification of ACO’s geocellular engineered tanks. ACO can supply

  • Load certificates – independent certified testing of units.
  • Installation – typical details.

ACO can also recommend project specific configurations showing the recommended layout and BOM’s to create tank to meet storage requirements
